Let’s be honest — budgeting sounds boring.
When I first started, I thought budgets were for strict accountants or people who actually enjoy spreadsheets. Spoiler alert: they’re not.
If you’re someone who hates budgeting, these tips are made for you.
1. Keep It Stupid Simple
Forget complicated apps. Grab a notebook. Write:
- How much you make
- How much you must spend (rent, food)
- What’s left over
2. Pay Bills First
The second you get paid, knock out your bills. Then whatever’s left is your playground.
3. Use the 50/30/20 Rule
- 50% needs (rent, food)
- 30% wants (fun, travel)
- 20% savings/debt payoff
4. Set One Fun Goal
Give yourself something fun to aim for — like a short trip or a concert ticket. Saving becomes easier when it feels rewarding.
5. Review Once a Month (Not Daily)
Checking your budget every day is exhausting. Once a month is enough to spot patterns.
